Last weekend Port Moresby residents’ enjoyed a unique Festive Pop-Up retail and dining event at the new Nambawan Super Plaza – and many took advantage to kick start their Christmas shopping.
Mr Paul Sayer, CEO of Nambawan Super said, From sunset Friday to sunset Sunday Nambawan Super Plaza offered two exclusive shopping venues, entertainment, pop up street food and a relaxed beer garden for visitors to enjoy.
“Most visitors had never been to the new Nambawan Super Plaza before and were delighted with the beautiful setting, with 180-degree views of Fairfax Harbour, and enjoyed the relaxed event,” Mr Sayer said.
“Two retail spaces showcased the high-quality homewares, jewellery, accessories, artwork and fashions from top local artisans.”
Visitors took advantage of the setup, Jessica Cassell, operator of leading PNG Social Enterprise Bilum & Bilas, said the space gave her the opportunity to feature their latest lines and the event provided a steady flow of Christmas shoppers.
“It was such a great opportunity to showcase the beautiful products made by local artisans,” Mrs Cassell said.
“Our artists work hard every day, and earn a wage, producing stunning pieces that are taking local skills and crafts to new global markets.”
“It’s wonderful that events like these are being supported by some of PNG’s leading organisation, like Nambawan Super.”
On Saturday night, event visitors enjoyed a PNG Fashion runway show, featuring leading local designers.
Across the weekend street, food-style dining was offered by a range of popular local eateries including Holiday Inn, Tasty Bites, and FAB Catering.
Families weren’t forgotten, with a Children’s Craft Workshop sponsored by Paradise Foods, where children lined up to make unique Christmas decorations and gifts.
Ultimately Nambawan Super Plaza will be permanently tenanted, however, the property team are already planning another Pop Up weekend for early 2020!
Nambawan Super Plaza is a new, mixed-use precinct in the heart of NCD. It consists of three towers, Deloitte Haus (the commercial tower), the new Crowne Plaza Residences (54 long and short stay serviced apartments) and a Penthouse Tower (with 14 luxury apartments).
At the heart of the three buildings is a retail and commercial plaza that will ultimately be permanently tenanted. However, while servicing to the retail centre is being completed, Port Moresby residents get the opportunity to enjoy this vibrant new space during Pop Up events.
The venue boasts 600 secure, basement car parks which means shoppers can take their time to enjoy the shopping and dining.
Nambawan Super Plaza was developed by OPH Pty Limited, in which Nambawan Super is a 90% shareholder.
In addition to shining a spotlight on leading PNG artists, the event featured several of Nambawan Super’s popular investee companies, Paradise Foods (also 90% owned by NSL) and Gala Icecream (now owned by Paradise Foods).
