Nambawan Super Limited (NSL), Papua New Guinea’s largest superannuation fund, today announced that its Chief Financial Officer, Pochon Lili, will be departing the Fund to pursue new career opportunities. Mr. Lili will conclude his tenure at the end of September 2026 after more than five years of dedicated service.
Mr. Lili joined Nambawan Super in November 2020, bringing a wealth of domestic and international financial expertise from his prior tenure with major professional accounting bodies and banking firms. Over his tenure as CFO, Mr. Lili played a pivotal role in strengthening the Fund's financial governance framework, driving rigorous asset budgeting, and safeguarding the financial reporting standards that protect the retirement savings of over 245,000 hardworking Papua New Guineans.
A highly respected figure within the national and regional financial sectors, Mr. Lili’s tenure was marked by historic milestones for the country's financial industry. Notably, in April 2026, he made history by formally representing Papua New Guinea for the first time at the International Forum of Accounting Standard Setters (IFASS) in Melbourne, significantly elevating PNG's standing and commitment to global financial excellence. Beyond his duties at NSL, his work as a member of the Accounting Standards Board of PNG and Treasurer of CPA PNG helped elevate the professional development of the wider accounting sector across the nation.
Nambawan Super Chief Executive Officer, Lachlan Baird, commended Mr Lili’s profound impact on the organisation.
"Pochon has demonstrated exemplary professionalism, strategic foresight, and dedication to our Members throughout his tenure. He leaves the Fund's financial operations in an incredibly robust state, backed by a highly skilled internal team. We thank him sincerely for his immense contribution, guidance, and companionship, and wish him every success in his future endeavours."
To ensure continuity of service and strict adherence to regulatory oversight, Nambawan Super confirms that a comprehensive transition roadmap has been activated. In the interim, CEO Lachlan Baird will directly assume oversight of the Fund’s financial management and delegations. Daily operational services, member crediting operations, and investment strategies remain completely unimpacted and will proceed seamlessly as usual.
The Trustee Board has commenced a recruitment process to identify a successor, and further announcements will be made in due course.
