Nambawan Super Limited (NSL) today hosted its 2026 Annual Employer Conference at the Hilton Port Moresby, bringing together Employer Representatives from across Papua New Guinea for a day of engagement, insight, and shared commitment to improving Member outcomes.

More than just a conference, the event served as a platform for connection, linking the Fund’s leadership directly with Employers who play a critical role in supporting the retirement journeys of over 245,000 Members.

Opening the conference, NSL Chairman Mr. Richard Sinamoi highlighted the important role Employer Representatives play in shaping how Members understand and experience superannuation.

“Today is about you, our Employer Representatives. In many cases, you are the first point of contact for our Members. The guidance you provide, particularly when they join the Fund and when they leave, plays a critical role in shaping how they understand their superannuation and ultimately their retirement outcomes,” he said.

He added that the conference is designed to equip Employers with the knowledge and confidence to better support their employees.

“When you are well-informed, you are better able to help our Members make informed decisions, supporting stronger outcomes not just for individuals, but for their families and future generations.”

Mr. Sinamoi also reinforced the broader economic role of superannuation, noting that Members’ savings continue to contribute to national development.

“Superannuation is not only about saving for retirement. It is also about how those savings are working every day to support businesses, create jobs, and contribute to the growth and stability of Papua New Guinea’s economy.”

Building on this, Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Lachlan Baird, outlined key developments shaping the Fund’s direction, positioning the Executive team as the drivers of strategy execution.

“Our role as Management is clear, we are the executors of strategy. Our focus is on ensuring that the Fund’s strategy is delivered effectively, with strong alignment across the organisation to support long-term value for Members,” he said.

He highlighted updates to the organisational structure and leadership team, noting that a strong and aligned executive function is essential in navigating an increasingly complex operating environment.

Mr. Baird also spoke to the unique characteristics of the superannuation industry in Papua New Guinea, emphasising that it differs from more mature markets such as Australia.

“Superannuation in Papua New Guinea operates in a very different context. Beyond retirement, it supports Members through important life stages, including home ownership and periods of financial need, while continuing to invest sustainably for long-term growth,” he noted.

On performance, the CEO reinforced the importance of maintaining a long-term investment perspective.

“Superannuation is a long-term investment. While markets will fluctuate, our focus remains on delivering real returns above inflation over time through disciplined, strategic management that protects and grows Members’ savings.”

The conference also highlighted ongoing initiatives to enhance Member experience, including improvements in digital services, Member data management, and customer service delivery across Branches.

NSL reiterated that Employers remain a critical link between the Fund and its Members, playing a key role in ensuring accurate contributions, maintaining up-to-date Member information, and supporting awareness of superannuation benefits.

The Employer Conference forms part of NSL’s broader nationwide engagement program, with a follow-up session scheduled in Lae on Friday, 24 April 2026, extending the same opportunity for direct engagement with the Fund’s Board and Management.

As NSL continues to position itself as a thought leader in Papua New Guinea’s superannuation industry, the Fund remains committed to transparency, strong governance, and delivering long-term value for Members.
